The 10th Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture of Shenzhen (The 10th UABB Shenzhen) is scheduled to open in December 2024. We cordially invite individuals and teams worldwide to stay tuned and participate in our forthcoming call for main venue curator(s). Details of this call will be released shortly.
Venue
The 10th UABB Shenzhen will locate its main exhibition venue at the Hetao Science and Technology Innovation Center, situated on the east side of the intersection of Honghua Road, Ruixiang Road, and Zijing Road in the Futian Free Trade Zone. A crucial development within the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, the Center focusing on industrial R&D serves as a premier sci-tech experimental R&D base that embodies the strategic development positioning of the Cooperation Zone.
Theme
The 10th UABB Shenzhen will explore the theme of sci-tech innovation-driven urban transformation, and sustainable renewal and development, examining leading global examples in urban planning, architecture, design, sci-tech innovation, humanity and art.
The 10th UABB Shenzhen aims to achieve the following objectives based on the unique characteristics of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone where it will take place.
1. Enhance Shenzhen-Hong Kong interactions by capitalizing on the prominent geographical layout of the Cooperation Zone, which is split by Shenzhen River into Shenzhen Campus and Hong Kong Campus.
2. Focus on specialized studies of industrial parks and showcase pioneering explorations in international parks.
3. Energize the area with exhibitions, encourage in-situ co-creation, foster creative and vibrant communities, and improve public space quality.
4. Identify new avant-garde designers and establish a UABB platform that supports emerging youths.
5. Promote green ecology by leveraging the ecological resources along the Shenzhen River and within the Mangrove Conservation Area.
6. Fully mobilize the public participation and foster ambiences that are welcoming for all ages.
★ The exhibition theme will be represented in the form of "Urban XX" as used in previous editions. It will be proposed by the curator(s) this year and finalized by the Academic Committee.
Eligibility
1. Understand and agree with basic values of Bi-city Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Shenzhen).
2. The curatorial concept and expressions can represent current international cutting edge level.
3. Have general knowledge and understanding of urban and urbanization problems in China, especially for the Pearl River Delta and the city of Shenzhen, and timely response to current hot issues.
4. Have strong capacity of resources mobilization, can invite planners, architects, designers and artists with international influence to participate in the exhibition.
5. Be familiar with international media. Have the capability to promote the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture to a higher level with international standards and influence.
6. Have good reputations in the industry, and meanwhile have good performances and successful cases in the past.
7. Establish a stable team to work with the Biennale in regards of the requirements for exhibition coordination, promotion, publication and related administrative affairs.
Participation
The 10th UABB Shenzhen is calling upon individuals and teams from around the world, who are active in urban planning, architecture, design, technology, or art, and share a profound interest in cities and urbanization, to participate in our open call.
